SIBF to participate in 44th Cairo International Book Fair

The Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) will be participating in the 44th edition of the Cairo International Book Fair, which will be held from 23 January-5 February. SIBF's participation in Cairo Book Fair is the first in a series of upcoming participations in Arab and foreign book fairs during the current year.
Organised by the General Egyptian Book Organisation, the Cairo Book Fair will be held under the theme 'Dialogue not Clash'. The organisation has chosen Libya to be the guest of honour at this year's book show, having replaced Tunisia, which was the guest of honour at last year's edition, the first one after Egypt's 25 January Revolution.
On the occasion, Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Director of SIBF, said, "SIBF' is always eager to participate and display a strong presence at all Arab and international fairs, as they represent an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and expertise of benefit to all, as well as to bolster and enhance inter-cultural relations between book fair on both global and Arab levels."
"The aim of the Sharjah Book Fair is to extend bridges of cultural communication bridge the cultural gap between world nations, and establish a culture of co-existence between peoples of diverse cultures," Al Ameri clarified.
He added that the book fair is also aimed at extending bridges of cooperation and creating a culture of reading on a global scale, referring to the Sharjah Book Fair as a cultural beacon in the UAE.
The SIBF Director pointed out the unlimited support extended by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to the cultural movement in general, and the Sharjah Book Fair in particular, in addition to his immense support for reading, writing, authorship, publishing, and every facet related to the written word.
"SIBF will participate in several Arab and international book fairs over the next six months," he said. Al Ameri revealed that 2013 would be an eventful year, as there are many plans and participations in the pipeline.
