Sidra Medical and Research Center appoints Dr. Joachim Dudenhausen as Deputy Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Joachim Dudenhausen, a leading expert in obstetrics and gynecology, has been appointed Deputy Chief Medical Officer at Sidra Medical and Research Center, an ultramodern, all-digital academic medical center which will set new standards in patient care for women and children in Qatar and beyond.
As Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Dudenhausen will support Chief Medical Officer, Edward S. Ogata, MD by overseeing all aspects of Graduate Medical Education and Medical Staff Service. In this capacity he will be a driving force in recruiting, training and educating the high caliber medical professionals who will staff Sidra.
Commenting on the appointment, D. Ogata said, "Dr. Dudenhausen has already made a significant contribution to Sidra, working closely with the senior team and his colleagues at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar to plan our medical and educational services. The exceptional clinical expertise, academic experience and passion for education that he brings to Sidra are true assets and I look forward to continuing to work closely with him as we move towards opening our doors to patients."
Dr. Dudenhausen has a wealth of clinical experience, having worked for more than 30 years in Obstetrics and Gynecology departments in Germany, Switzerland and the U.S. He was Director of Obstetrics at the prestigious Charité Hospital in Berlin, Germany from 1989 to 2010 and received a Medal of Honor from the hospital, and was also awarded the Order of Merit from the Federal Republic of Germany for his outstanding work in this capacity. He served as the Dean of the Medical School Charité in Berlin from 2001 to 2004. Prior to taking up his roles within Sidra and Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar, he spent a year as a visiting fellow in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York. He has served in numerous high-ranking professional positions, including Secretary General of the World Association of Perinatal Medicine and President of the German Society of Perinatal Medicine. He also holds a Fellowship Ad Eundem from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
