Silver Sponsor OMIFCO SAOC aims to reduce environmental impacts at Gulf Eco 2013

Highlighting the reduction of environmental impacts as its top priority, Oman India Fertiliser Company SAOC (OMIFCO) has confirmed its support as Silver Sponsor at Gulf Eco 2013, taking place from 20th-22nd January, 2013 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.
"OMIFCO has made heavy investments in eco-friendly operations that have little or no negative impacts on the environment. The company is constantly on the lookout for opportunities that contribute to the upliftment of the country's face in terms of the international ecological footprint measurement. By our participation at Gulf Eco 2013 we hope to assure the public of our commitment towards environmental safety," says Mr. Hamed Hamood Al Hashmi, G.M Corporate Affairs, OMIFCO.
OMIFCO's environmental management system boasts management of air emissions, effluents and solid wastes, including a monitoring system for each source of pollution.
Some of the company's pollution control measures include using of natural gas to ignite furnaces, recycling thermal energy generated from combustion sources, low Nox burners system in combustion sources and furnaces, igniting unprocessed gases in the flare, re-use of effluents such as the treated sanitary effluent in irrigation and temperature reduction of seawater through engineering design.
Some of OMIFCO's environmental projects include updating the Environmental Impact Assessment of the plant, monitoring of marine environment around OMIFCO's offshore (twice a year), conducting an Environmental Annual Audit and sponsoring some local cleaning campaigns, environmental exhibitions, and other related activities.
The Oman India Fertiliser Company SAOC (OMIFCO) is owned 50% by Oman Oil Company SAOC (OOC), 25% by Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) & 25% by Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO). OMIFCO has been established as the result of an initiative by the Governments of Oman & India in order to construct, own and operate a modern world scale two-train ammonia - urea fertiliser manufacturing plant at the Sur Industrial Estate in the Sultanate of Oman.
Gulf Eco 2013 encourages the participation and support of various representatives from the public and private sector in recognising the importance of developing and implementing a range of eco-friendly practices, products, services, equipments and solutions aimed at reducing or eliminating environmental hazards.
