A new major cellular phone survey of cellular users in Egypt was conducted by the Arab Advisors Group during September of 2012. The survey report, "Egypt Smartphone Survey 2012" was released on October 31, 2012. The report covered several areas including: General cellular usage habits, Smartphone adoption and usage patterns, Smartphone awareness, cellular handset brands and models in addition to availability of tablets, satellite TV, pay TV, fixed line and Internet connection at home among respondents. The report has 58 pages and 71 exhibits.

Respondents were randomly called through a randomly generated table of cellular phone numbers for each of the three cellular operators in Egypt: Vodafone Egypt, Mobinil and Etisalat Misr. The survey results encompass answers from 765 cellular users that passed rigorous quality control checks. Quality control was conducted by Arab Advisors Group's team and included randomly re-calling respondents for authenticity. The survey yields a confidence level of 99% with a margin of error of less than 5%.
