Software piracy rate in Jordan remains among lowest in region

The Business Software Alliance (BSA) has said software piracy in Jordan rose by 1% in 2011, but the rate remains among the lowest in the region, Saudi Gazette has reported. Software industry losses increased in 2011, amounting to $31m compared to $28m in 2010, $26m in 2009 and $22m in 2008, the BSA reported said. The lowest piracy rate in the region was registered in the UAE (37%), followed by Qatar (50%), Saudi Arabia (51%) and Bahrain (54%), the report noted.
