South Korea pledges to complete Iraq's $7bn Basmaya housing project

Iraq's National Investment Commission has said the South Korean Development Establishment for Trade and Investment (KOTRA) has pledged to complete the Basmaya housing project, Aswat al-Iraq has reported. Last May, Iraq awarded South Korean construction firm Hanwha the contract to build the 100,000 housing units, worth $7bn. However, lawmakers called on the commission to pressure the South Korean company to speed up the implementation of the project, which will provide affordable housing for 600,000 citizens.
