SPAR to open 11 stores in UAE, Qatar, Lebanon by year end

Dutch food retailer SPAR International has announced plans to expand into the Middle East, with the aim of having 30 stores in the region by the end of 2015, Reuters has reported. The company will have eight stores in Abu Dhabi, two in Qatar and one in Lebanon by the end of this year, said managing director, Gordon Campbell. SPAR plans to expand further in the UAE and is also looking at entering Oman and Saudi Arabia over the next three years, he added.
