Streit Group, the world's largest privately-owned vehicle armouring company, will be exhibiting 15 of its armoured vehicles from 17th to 21st February at IDEX 2013 in Abu Dhabi.

Of the 15, no fewer than seven will be brand new models reflecting the sheer scale of investment that Streit Group has been making in its international R&D and production capabilities to provide both military and security personnel, as well as civilians, with the protection they need against ever-evolving threats.

The seven new vehicles are:

Aircraft/Building Assault Vehicle
Built on a Ford F-550 base, the Aircraft/Building Assault Vehicle features the most versatile vehicle-mounted hydraulically operated assault ramp system ever deployed and eliminates the need for hand-carried ladders in the majority of tactical operational situations. Designed specifically for use by SWAT forces, it can carry a driver, team commander and up to 12 fully equipped operational personnel. Capable of rapid deployment, it can be used to execute multiple entry point rescue missions both from modern commercial aircraft and from buildings.

Varan 6x6 Tactical Vehicle
The capabilities of the Varan 6x6 forward-fighting vehicle reflect its state-of-the-art design. Able to accommodate up to 10 personnel, the Varan's 400 horse power V6 Cummins engine gives it the power to cross the most difficult and hostile terrains, including deserts. Armoured to a full STANAG 4 level, its V-shaped hull is designed to disseminate the impact of mine blasts immediately.

Scorpion
The Scorpion is a fast-moving, agile MRAP armoured command vehicle with a top speed of 110 km/h. Its innovative modular design - with the engine and suspension mounted separately from the V-shaped monocoque shell - maximises both vehicle performance and occupant survivability. Its crew compartment, which can carry up to six personnel when deployed in the field, can be manufactured with a protection level of up to STANAG 3 level.

Typhoon Saudi
The Typhoon is a highly versatile MRAP vehicle offering up to STANAG 3 level protection against both blast and ballistic attack. Highly manoeuvrable, with 60% gradient and 30% side slope capabilities as well as a ground clearance of 600mm, the Typhoon is equally at home in urban, mountainous and challenging rural terrains and has excellent field reparability. With the capacity to carry up to nine personnel plus equipment, the Typhoon can be configured for a wide range of missions, including Command and Control, EOD, Patrol, Convoy Support, Forward Observation, Reconnaissance and Med-Evac.

Typhoon 6x6
This brand new 6x6 variant of the Typhoon MRAP, manufactured entirely within the UAE, can be configured to carry up to 14 personnel. Powered by a Cummins 400 horse power engine with Alison 3200 5-speed automatic transmission, the Typhoon 6x6 is one of the most reliable vehicles in its class, offering blast and ballistic protection to STANAG 4 level.

Typhoon (Independent Suspension)
With its independently mounted, front and rear coil springs and shock absorbers, this particular variant of the Typhoon MRAP boasts an especially high ground clearance and the ability to handle 45° approach and departure angles.

Puma
Based on the Toyota Tundra, the Puma has a 5.6 litre engine with 6 speed automatic transmission. Fully armoured to STANAG 3 level, the vehicle has a monocoque hull with independently mounted suspension and can be fitted with a range of weapon platform options.

In addition to these new models, visitors to IDEX will also be able to view an impressive selection of other vehicles from Streit Group's current range, including:
