- PRESS RELEASE
Streit Group, the world's largest privately-owned vehicle armouring company, will be exhibiting 15 of its armoured vehicles from 17th to 21st February at IDEX 2013 in Abu Dhabi.
The seven new vehicles are:
Aircraft/Building Assault Vehicle
Built on a Ford F-550 base, the Aircraft/Building Assault Vehicle features the most versatile vehicle-mounted hydraulically operated assault ramp system ever deployed and eliminates the need for hand-carried ladders in the majority of tactical operational situations. Designed specifically for use by SWAT forces, it can carry a driver, team commander and up to 12 fully equipped operational personnel. Capable of rapid deployment, it can be used to execute multiple entry point rescue missions both from modern commercial aircraft and from buildings.
Varan 6x6 Tactical Vehicle
The capabilities of the Varan 6x6 forward-fighting vehicle reflect its state-of-the-art design. Able to accommodate up to 10 personnel, the Varan's 400 horse power V6 Cummins engine gives it the power to cross the most difficult and hostile terrains, including deserts. Armoured to a full STANAG 4 level, its V-shaped hull is designed to disseminate the impact of mine blasts immediately.
The Scorpion is a fast-moving, agile MRAP armoured command vehicle with a top speed of 110 km/h. Its innovative modular design - with the engine and suspension mounted separately from the V-shaped monocoque shell - maximises both vehicle performance and occupant survivability. Its crew compartment, which can carry up to six personnel when deployed in the field, can be manufactured with a protection level of up to STANAG 3 level.
The Typhoon is a highly versatile MRAP vehicle offering up to STANAG 3 level protection against both blast and ballistic attack. Highly manoeuvrable, with 60% gradient and 30% side slope capabilities as well as a ground clearance of 600mm, the Typhoon is equally at home in urban, mountainous and challenging rural terrains and has excellent field reparability. With the capacity to carry up to nine personnel plus equipment, the Typhoon can be configured for a wide range of missions, including Command and Control, EOD, Patrol, Convoy Support, Forward Observation, Reconnaissance and Med-Evac.
This brand new 6x6 variant of the Typhoon MRAP, manufactured entirely within the UAE, can be configured to carry up to 14 personnel. Powered by a Cummins 400 horse power engine with Alison 3200 5-speed automatic transmission, the Typhoon 6x6 is one of the most reliable vehicles in its class, offering blast and ballistic protection to STANAG 4 level.
Typhoon (Independent Suspension)
With its independently mounted, front and rear coil springs and shock absorbers, this particular variant of the Typhoon MRAP boasts an especially high ground clearance and the ability to handle 45° approach and departure angles.
Based on the Toyota Tundra, the Puma has a 5.6 litre engine with 6 speed automatic transmission. Fully armoured to STANAG 3 level, the vehicle has a monocoque hull with independently mounted suspension and can be fitted with a range of weapon platform options.
In addition to these new models, visitors to IDEX will also be able to view an impressive selection of other vehicles from Streit Group's current range, including:
Representing a new generation of LAV, the Spartan can be configured in various models to support the police, the military and counter-terrorism units in whatever terrain they need to operate. Designed to accept a crew compartment armoured to CEN Level B6 and a floor certified to STANAG 3 level, it is built to withstand ballistic attack and provide advanced protection against anti-personnel mines and grenade blasts. It combines the speed, manoeuvrability and weapons platform options - including a manual or electric rotating turret - required for roles ranging from command and control and military tactical operations to SWAT, riot control, counter terrorism and counter surveillance.
A tactical 4x4 armoured vehicle, ideal both for patrols and combat scenarios, the Cobra's superior off-road performance enables it to cope with almost any terrain. It features a monocoque body, with optimal ballistic resistance and underbody blast protection, and is equipped with 10 strategically positioned gun ports. It can also accommodate a 360˚ turret.
Built on a Toyota base, the Cougar has a 3.9 litre engine with a 5 speed manual gearbox and a top speed of 110 km/hr. With a crew compartment armoured to CEN Level BR6, the vehicle can be equipped with a range of weapons options, including a roof turret.
The Russian Kamaz 6x6 truck is a multi-purpose fully armoured truck with an 8 cylinder turbo diesel engine and 10 speed manual transmission. Providing CEN BR6 protection, the Kamaz 6x6 is capable of carrying up to 27 passengers and can be equipped with multiple gun-ports.
Like its 6x6 variant, the Kamaz 4x4 has an 8 cylinder turbo diesel engine with 10 speed manual transmission. and can carry up to 21 passengers overall. It too provides CEN BR6 protection and can be equipped with multiple gun-ports.
Based on a Ford F550 chassis with a 350 horsepower turbo diesel engine and the convenience of automatic transmission, this Streit Group Ambulance is designed specifically for operation in high threat areas, including war zones. Fully armoured to CEN BR6 level, the Ambulance is equipped with all the medical and paramedic equipment needed in conflict situations.
Mercedes G55 AMG
The Streit Group Mercedes G55 Wagon, fully armoured to CEN BR6 level, is ideally suited to its roles as a protection vehicle for either VIPs or military personnel. With a 493 horsepower supercharged engine and 5 speed automatic transmission, the G55 can accommodate up to 5 passengers with luggage/equipment.
With its 400 horsepower V8 engine, luxury features and a seating capacity for up to 7 people, Streit Group's fully B6 armoured Nissan Patrol is an ideal VIP protection vehicle.
Over the course of the IDEX event, Streit Group will be making full use of the exhibition's purpose-built demonstration track by putting a number of its vehicles through their paces, including the Typhoon Saudi, the Typhoon 6x6, the Spartan, the two Kamaz trucks, the Aircraft/Building Assault Vehicle, the Riot Control Vehicle, the F550 Ambulance and both the Mercedes G55 and the Nissan Patrol.
Guerman Goutorov, founder & CEO of Streit Group, commented, "IDEX is one of the most important defence exhibitions in the world, particularly so for Streit Group with our Head Office and our extensive production facilities in Dubai. Having so many different vehicles on show at the exhibition, including all the new models that we will be launching at the event, is clear evidence of how much we have been investing in both R&D and manufacturing in recent years. We're looking forward to being there."
