Sultanate to participate in 2012 United Nations Public Service award ceremony in New York, USA

The Sultanate will participate in this evening's United Nations Public Service Awards (UNPSA) Ceremony which will be held at the UN Headquarters in New York, USA, with the attendance of Mr. Ban Ki Moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations, along with the participation of a number of senior officials from across the globe.
The UN Public Service Award recognizes the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions which lead to a more effective and responsive public service administration in countries worldwide. Through an annual competition, the UN Public Service Awards promote the role, professionalism, and visibility of public service. The ceremony to be held tonight will award projects that have contributed enormously to providing public service to users around the world. Deemed one of the most prestigious international awards in the domain of government services, the UNPSA is given to outstanding institutions that play a significant role in providing services and enhancing the participation and use of Government services in the implementation of their activities.
The 2012 UNPSA Awards Ceremony and Forum, is to be held from 5-28 June 212, in New York City, USA, and this year's Award marks the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the United Nations Public Service Day and Awards Ceremony. Over 400 participants, including the President of the General Assembly, the Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, among high-level government officials from around the world are expected to attend.
Representing Oman in this ceremony will be an official delegation comprising: HE Luwitha bint Sultan bin Ahmed Al Mughairy - Head of the Permanent Mission of the Sultanate of Oman, New York, USA; Abdullah Hamood Al Raqadi - Director General Assistant for Applications, Governorates and Hospital - DGIT, MoH; Shariffa Mohammed Al-Meskary, Director of International Relations & Information, ITA; Kamla Hamood AlRahbi, Senior Project Specialist, International Relations & Information, ITA; and, Tunis Obaid Al-Mahrouqi, Media and Communication Specialist, ITA.
