  • PRESS RELEASE

Summit Holding announced that its STS (Summit Technology Solutions) Academy has just commenced with its second round of training.

The STS Academy was launched in September of 2012 as part of Summit's continued effort to support and develop the labor force available in the Egyptian IT sector. The program is comprised of courses which last for 12 weeks and hold up to 20 candidates, who split their time between three different STS business units: Computing, Voice, and Data Communication.

Following the basic rotation, an assessment is carried out on each candidate, after which each is allocated back to the business unit where they performed best for another four weeks. At the end of the program, selected candidates are either employed by STS, subject to the availability of vacancies, or are introduced to the job market with a certificate from and working experience in one of Egypt's top integrators. In both circumstances, STS Academy students graduate more empowered and prepared for better employment opportunities.

"At Summit, we understand the importance of on-the-job training to sharpen young graduates and truly prepare them for the world of business. With this in mind, we started the STS Academy Training Program in September for graduates from Egypt's computer science and communication sectors," said Magda El Sabee, Chairperson and the CEO of Summit Holding.

The innovative new program has been designed especially to give recent graduates a competitive edge in the marketplace. STS believes the stringent training program will ultimately create a ready pool of highly qualified, professional candidates, and elevate the level of creativity and productivity in the industry for both STS and other companies working in the field.

According to the Egyptian General Authority for Investment (GAFI), in 2007/2008, 324.3 thousand Egyptians obtained university degrees, of whom 64.5 thousand graduated with a commerce degree, 15.5 thousand with an engineering degree, and over 4 thousand with an IT Degree.

Of 324.3 thousand university graduates entering the workforce in 2008/2007, about 39.4 thousand received professional CIT training in 2009, compared to the 33.1 in 2008, representing an annual increase of 19%. Egypt has over 181.7 thousand people working in the CIT sector.
