Tadawul bourse slips as earnings season kicks off, eXtra soars on profit surge

The Riyadh-based Tadawul All-Share Index slipped by 0.08% to 7,004.71 points Sunday, the first index loss in 2013. SABIC fell 0.27% to close at SR92. United Electronics Co., known as Extra, surged 1.45% to SR105. Earlier in the day, eXtra reported as one of the first listed firms in the GCC interim results for 2012. eXtra's estimated annual net profit hit SR158.6m, representing an increase of 20.1% year-on-year. eXtra said sales in all its categories improved, contributing to the profit surge. eXtra's core activities include retail of consumer electronics, appliances, communications and solutions. On Saturday Jan. 5, eXtra opened its first store in Bahrain. eXtra was recently named as one of "The Top 200 Companies in the GCC" by Forbes Middle East, and also ranked as one of the Top 5 Services companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
