- PRESS RELEASE
Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), the leading firm of professional and educational services in the Arab world, has completed its Virtualization Infrastructure as part of its objective to establish a private cloud. At present there are no operational private clouds in the Arab world; and regionally, cloud technology is limited in its implementation.
The completion of this milestone provides TAG-Org with the means to migrate all of its applications, systems, and enterprise software to a virtual environment in order to save power and resources, as part of TAG-Org's Green IT Initiative. Migration and integrating a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) for individual users is the next step in the development process.
TAG-Org has selected VMware's Virtualization Products, the global leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, for developing TAG-Org's system, based on a very careful assessment of available products in the local market.
These elements are being engineered using VMware's products and are being led by TAG-Org's Cloud & Infrastructure Systems Team to provide a holistic infrastructure that meets user demands and provides a cost effective solution in a scalable manner.
HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh articulated his satisfaction with the team's achievement: "Today's milestone is indicative of the Cloud & Infrastructure Systems Team's dedication, and I anticipate that our Cloud will set the benchmark for the Arab world."
Cloud computing is an IT sourcing and delivery model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources with minimal management effort or service provider interaction.
The objective of the TAG Cloud is to offer each user at TAG-Org and every learner at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University (TAGIUNI), a global education provider with strategic alliances, with their own virtual machine. This would allow individuals to have remote access to their files, applications, and storage areas from any supported device at any time.
A follow-up meeting is expected in the coming weeks for the signing of a partnership agreement between TAG-Org and VMware.
