Tamkeen shares its vision at Sight Middle East

Tamkeen, a Dubai Government initiative providing services to people with visual impairment, will be taking part in Sight Middle East, the biggest exhibition and conference of visual disability technologies in the region.
Awatif Akbari, Head of Internal Operations at Tamkeen said: "People with visual impairment in the UAE have made extraordinary progress in their personal and professional lives. By working with local and international experts at events such as this, we can ensure that this progress continues in the years to come."
Operating under the umbrella of Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), Tamkeen provides vocational training to individuals with visual impairment, helping to place them in private and public sector employment.
Its training programmes include IT skills, English language classes, 'soft' skills such as customer service and communication, and professional skills diplomas. Tamkeen also provides consultancy services to companies wishing to make their website more accessible, as well as professionals such as teachers and social workers who work with individuals with visual impairment.
