For the past three years, Tandeef - the waste collection, street cleaning and city beautification division of Bee'ah - has put in place various initiatives and adopted international best practices which put the UAE's environment at the forefront of its sustainability goals, by controlling its emissions and keeping the environment and air safe for surrounding residents in Sharjah.

One such initiative that aims to reduce its carbon footprint and operate more efficiently, is the fuelling of Tandeef's waste collection and haulage vehicles with low sulphur diesel which helped decrease particulate emissions without lowering their performance.

"The use of low sulphur diesel in our vehicles has helped us reduce the amount of emissions produced, while also saving thousands of dirhams a year in vehicle maintenance costs," said Mr. Khaled Al Huraimel, Chief Executive Officer of Bee'ah. "The global industry is moving towards sourcing renewable and biofuel technology to help improve carbon footprint; but at Bee'ah, we have always opted for cleaner fuel since the inception of Tandeef in January 2010."

Moreover, GPS vehicle tracking and computerized route-optimization systems are used to maximize vehicle service productivity and develop more efficient routes for waste collection, thus reducing the environmental impact due to emissions from excess fuel consumption.

Tandeef plays a vital role in helping Bee'ah become the leading environmental management company in the region by providing coherent and sustainable environmental solutions to meet the challenges of the community it serves. Earlier last month, the company announced that it has invested over Dhs60,000,000 in new equipment and specialized fleet in street cleaning and waste collection, to elevate its services for operation in the city of Sharjah.

Tandeef has introduced to the city automated bin collection and bin washing vehicles which are quieter and much more efficient than the conventional existing types of vehicles, ensure higher efficiency and better collection operation throughout the streets of Sharjah. The latest bin washer vehicle provides the capability to wash the new bins after each collection routine, to prevent any smell from left over waste. These new street cleaning vehicles' power and technology ensure higher efficiency and thorough performance during the street cleaning process.
