Tavcom Training reports success of IP Conference at Intersec 2013

  • PRESS RELEASE

The hunger for knowledge about the opportunities offered by IP network based video surveillance systems could not have been more evident than at the Analogue vs. IP Conference which took place in Dubai during Intersec 2013.

The objective of the Conference on 17th January, which was a joint initiative by the Department of Protective Systems of Dubai Police and Tavcom Training, was to highlight how users can gain maximum benefit from their investment in a Video over IP system, and to address the operational and cost issues when making the transition from an analogue to an IP network solution.

"There is always considerable demand to attend our IP related training courses and we were confident therefore that there would be a good deal of interest in the Conference," said Mike Tennent, Managing Director of Hampshire based Tavcom Training. "However, even we were surprised by the tremendous demand for places. With access on a first come, first served basis, we were full to capacity as the maximum number of people who could safely fit into the conference room was fixed at 330 people."

Dubai Police (DPS) was represented by Maj. Arif Al Janahi, who together with Mike Tennent and Jon Laws, an independent security consultant, and Lee Evans, a highly experienced system integrator, fielded an hour long Q&A session at the end of the conference. Whilst Video over IP was the main topic, there were also discussions on the recent advances in the latest CCTV/VSS standards, video analytics and thermal imaging technologies.

"As the approved Security training provider for Dubai Police, we were very pleased to cooperate with DPS under the leadership of Col. Khalifa Al Saleis and Maj. Arif Al Janahl in organising the conference," said Mike Tennent. "Intersec is firmly established in the security industry's calendar. Over 1,000 international exhibitors participated in this year's show and we were delighted to have been given the opportunity to contribute to its ongoing success."
