Tawasul Telecom embarks on new phase of expansion

Tawasul Telecom, the only pan-GCC MPLS telecommunications service provider with presence in each of the GCC countries, announced that it has secured an additional $16m in funding from Gulf Investment Corporation (GIC) to fund the company's next phase of growth and expansion.

Tawasul Telecom is a carrier's carrier that supports existing telecom operators and ISPs for all their Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) needs.

The company provides customers with a one-stop shopping solution that enables them to provide flexible, reliable and high quality connectivity services that underpin, among others, Cloud Computing and Software as a Service (SaaS) applications to their end customers.

Tawasul Telecom is a green-field project that GIC developed with NTEC to serve the needs of regional telecom providers and enterprises. The services offered by Tawasul Telecom enable global carriers to access all the countries in the GCC and Middle East as a single region.

Tawasul Telecom is the only provider with presence in each of the GCC countries and its MPLS network is used by Tier 1 operators, financial institutions and in other verticals.

"The company is positioned for rapid growth in the next several years and our investment reaffirms our belief that the company and the management team deliver real value in the region," said Mohamed Eissa, Head of Technology & Telecom Investments at GIC.

Hani Al-Shakhs, CEO of Tawasul Telecom, added, "Our strengths lie in our relationships with our partners, a fully redundant, carrier-grade MPLS network and our people. The additional support of GIC enables us to accelerate our growth and better serve the needs of our customers in the region and internationally."
