Technology and Business Society appoints its first Board of Directors

Technology and Business Society (TBS) announced the formation of its first Board of Directors, electing Esam Hadi, Chairman, Mishal Ali Al Hellow, Vice Chairman, Mohamed Ahmed Kamal, Tariq Khalid Hayat, Dr. Khalid Al Mutawaah, Habib Murtadha and Mohamed Mahmood Tayeb, directors.

The announcement was made during the Association's General Assembly Meeting. TBS's license was issued by the Ministry of Social Development last September.

The meeting started with a review of the TBS's Charter. Attendees agreed to focus on achieving TBS's goals and objectives, foremost among which are the support of Bahrain's information technology (IT) to compete internationally, develop IT applications in medium and large enterprises (MLEs), and introduce state of the art IT development to best serve MLEs.

TBS's goals also include support and promotion of green environment-friendly technology, support of information security technology for MLEs, and provision of strategic consulting in the IT field to develop future strategies for MLEs, as well as the building and development of scientific and professional IT capabilities and knowhow, and ensuring constructive communication between all TBS members.

On methods that can contribute to the achievement of the TBS's goals and objectives, Esam Hadi, Chairman of TBS stated that the most significant are the creation of a new mechanism to assess and analyze MLEs' IT needs and challenges, the formation of permanent and provisional committees to study various IT applications, as well as cooperation and communication with international and local organizations concerned with the training and development of manpower in the IT field.

Hadi added "Methods also include collaboration and communication with international companies specialized in MLE IT industry, support to the eGovernment programme, providing assistance to MLEs in all sectors to implement their programmes, support and promotion of scientific research and publication in the IT field, and collaboration with international associations and organizations with common aspirations."

In conclusion, the Chairman and Directors expressed their appreciation to TBS members for their confidence, and stated that the Board will, in the next few weeks, announce its plan for the coming period. They also thanked H.E. Dr. Fatima Al Baloushi, Minister of Social Development for her resolution to license the Association, and Mrs. Najwa Abdullatif Janahi, Director of Private Organizations for her efforts to serve private institutes and for facilitating the completion of required formalities.
