Texas A and M at Qatar to host research-industry partnership showcase

Texas A and M University at Qatar has announced plans to host its first research-industry partnership showcase, titled 'Research and Industry: Fostering Synergy,' on 21 May at the Qatar National Convention Centre.
Dr. Kenneth Hall, associate dean for research and graduate studies at the University, said, "This forum will be of significant importance for us and our industry partners. It will be an opportunity for us to learn about the challenges facing industry and tailor our resources to address these challenges. It is also an opportunity for industry to know more about our capabilities and expertise. Our goal is to develop more collaborative research that is of high priority to Qatar and of high value to the world."
The daylong showcase will include presentations of successful Texas A&M at Qatar - industry collaboration examples, breakout meetings, a poster session and a roundtable brainstorming and recommendation discussion.
Dr. Mohamed Aggour, professor of petroleum engineering and event chair, said, "This research forum, the first of the University's planned annual forums, serves two important purposes. First, it provides a platform for local industry and the technical and commercial communities to become more familiar with the technical and research capabilities at Texas A&M at Qatar. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for Texas A&M at Qatar to solicit its partners' ideas and research challenges to help set the direction of research activities at the University. The end goal is for Texas A&M at Qatar to effectively serve and advance local and regional technical and scientific communities."
Dr. Shehab Ahmad, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering and showcase co-chair, said, "The State of Qatar's dedication and commitment to research has helped Texas A&M University at Qatar's faculty, researchers and students grow a culture of research that has attracted global attention. We have very strong support from local industry, and this research showcase aims to further enhance the synergy between Texas A&M University at Qatar and its industry partners."
