- PRESS RELEASE
Touch, the leading mobile telecommunications company in Lebanon managed by Zain Group, initially signed the first of its kind offer in Lebanon dubbed "Syndicates' offer", with the Lebanese Editors' Syndicate.
Under the auspices and with the presence of the minister of telecommunications, Nicolas Sehnaoui, touch held a press conference to announce the inclusion of new syndicates and associations covered by the offer that actively work in the industry. Attending the event were representatives of these various groups that namely include Dr. Amer Mashmoushy, president of the Information and Documentation Alumni Association, Mr. Karim El Hajj, president of the Press Photographers Syndicate, Mrs. Rania Abi Nader vice president of the Audiovisual Syndicate and Mr. Youssef El Houayek president of the Press Club.
Commenting on the company's initiative to expand the scope of the offer, the Corporate Communications & Relations Manager at touch, Ghada Barakat, said: "We are witnessing today the expansion of an exceptional offer that allows the largest number of media members to benefit from cost saving advantages on their local calls, based on their daily need to obtain and convey messages with their mobile phones. Touch initially wished to extend the offer to all the dedicated media professionals."
Telecommunications Minister, Nicolas Sehnaoui, stated: "We are announcing today the additional beneficiaries of the syndicates' offer which has been specifically devised for the media members. I would also like to highlight the fact that this offer reflects our support for this profession that truly personifies the democratic and civilized image of Lebanon. The Lebanese media professional is known for his bravery thanks to his freedom of expression and the dangerous journeys that he takes whilst reporting news from the various Lebanese towns. He thus subjects his life to danger all for the pursuit of the honest truth behind a story."
He added, "We have received many requests regarding the inclusion of electronic media to the offer, and we surely wish to accomplish this. We will thus seek to find a plausible method of including the electronic media professionals and will put all our efforts in reaching this goal."
