Township for 100,000 people to come up in Oman's Duqm Port in 2014

Oman's Port of Duqm has said construction of a township with a capacity for 100,000 inhabitants is to be completed by the end of 2014, Muscat Daily has reported. The township is part of phase one of the port's development project, said Reggy Vermeulen, commercial director of Port of Duqm. "A total of 177,000 hectares have been allotted for the entire zone, out of which phase one of the project, under the management of Port of Duqm Co, will include the port, dry dock, airport, new township, refinery, 6,000 hectares of industrial area and tourism zone," said Vermeulen.
