TRA participates in the CIO Middle East

The Telecommunications Regulatory authority (TRA) represented by its aeCERT delegate participated in the CIO Middle East event held at The Meydan hotel.

CIO Middle East event provides a platform to share views, concerns, strategies and best practices in the field of information security in the cyber world and laws thereof. Chief Information Officers, Information Technology (IT) directors, managers and heads attended this event.

H. E. Salem Khamis Al Shair Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director General, TRA - Information and eGovernment Sector said, "As the cyber security coordination centre in the UAE, enhancing information security awareness across the UAE is one of our goals. I am proud that TRA participated in the CIO Middle East event as we can present case studies and share the success stories in the various aspects of cyber security. This is in line with the aeCERT's mission to build a secure and safe cyber culture in the country."

Engineer Majid Al Madhloum, Head of Security Quality Services at aeCERT, represented the TRA and co-chaired a panel discussion at the event. He said "This was a great event. It included experts from the Business, Technology and Information Security sectors. This gave us an opportunity to share experiences and address common concerns." He added "The panel included experts from areas related to law, Technology, and Information Security, the discussion gave us insights to view the current challenges from different angles and foresee some solutions to bridge the gaps between them."

The discussion revolved around addressing information security in the business world, the roles of Chief Information Officers and Chief Security Officers in aligning critical security concerns with the business objectives, changing trends in cyber security threats with advancement of technology, laws pertaining to the cyber space security and corporate governance to ensure protection of data records and rights of privacy.
