  • PRESS RELEASE

The General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunications Sector is participating for the third time in a row in the International Defense Exhibition IDEX 2013 from 17 to 21 February 2013 at the Abu Dhabi Exhibition Centre.

This participation comes in recognition of the successful participations provided by the TRA in the past years where it has showcased the latest regulations and policies for managing and monitoring the spectrum which constitute a safe environment for using telecommunications, as well as preventing harmful interference and ensuring the effective use of frequencies in emergency situations.

The TRA has previously expanded its own monitoring stations for up to 7 fixed stations and 4 portable stations in addition to the latest mobile monitoring devices.

There are also future plans for expansion and upgrading them to keep up with the latest developments in the field of telecommunications and information security.

In line with the policy of the UAE government towards implementing the e-government principle, the TRA has launched the latest electronic system in the world for spectrum management.

This system enables customers to submit their applications electronically without the need to visit TRA offices. It also provides customers with the ability to track the status of their applications electronically until they collect the required permits, and can also pay fees by the e-payment service.

On this occasion H.E Director General of TRA, said, "This system has saved time and effort on customers and contributed in saving a lot of money and effort as there is no need for paperwork to complete and deliver applications. Furthermore, the system has contributed in the significant reduction in human errors that were occurring when dealing manually with applications and helped in maintaining documents and archiving them electronically."

It should be noted that this system is the newest and strongest spectrum management system in the world and the UAE is considered the first country in the region, Middle East, and Asia to make use of it and the second worldwide.
