Nearly 100 Travelport customers and travel industry representatives from Abu Dhabi and Al Ain gathered at the InterContinental Hotel in Abu Dhabi this month for a special Travelport product roadshow.
"Abu Dhabi is an important focus for Travelport in the Middle East," said Rabih Saab, President and Managing Director, Middle East and Africa, Travelport. "The travel industry in the UAE capital is continuing to develop at a rapid rate thanks to the steady growth of Etihad Airways and the heavy investments into infrastructure improvements and world class tourist attractions."
"This growth brings significant opportunities for the GDS industry, with more and more local agents and individual companies seeking to expand their horizons through working with a GDS partner. This event gave us a real opportunity to connect with like-minded customers and industry partners and present our innovative product range as we continue to grow Travelport presence in the region."
The event kicked off with a series of product presentations, which included Travelport Smartpoint - the next generation booking tool, Travelport Mobi - the innovative mobile travel booking solution, and Travelport Rooms & More - Travelport's cutting edge hospitality product. These were followed by a networking lunch and a series of product showcases.
"I found the Travelport product roadshow to be of great value," commented Jimmy El Murr, General Manager for Abu Dhabi-based Salem Travel. "It was a very useful to hear about the latest developments in travel technology, as well as an excellent opportunity to network and meet other travel professionals. It also gave me a more detailed insight into Travelport's technology offer and how this can benefit travel providers in and around Abu Dhabi."
