UAE inks MoU with Philippine to meet air traffic demands

The Memorandum was signed by H.E Mr. Omar Bin Ghaleb, Deputy Director General of the GCAA and H.E Atty. Jose Perpetuo M. Lotilla, Undersecretary, Department of Transportation & Communications of the Republic of Philippines.

Representatives from Abu Dhabi Department of Transport, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Sharjah Department of Civil Aviation, Ras Al Khaimah Department of Civil Aviation, Etihad Airways, Emirates Airline, Air Arabia and RAK Airways attended the negotiations.

The two delegations agreed that there will be no restriction on the number of frequencies for both passenger and all-cargo that can be operated by the designated airlines of each side between points in the UAE and points in the Philippines other than Manila. With regard to Manila, passenger frequencies will double in the near future for both Philippines and UAE carriers in order to keep up with the growth of air traffic between the two countries.

H.E. Mr. Omar Bin Ghaleb stressed the importance of this memorandum, which will contribute to boost the trade, tourism and investment between UAE and Philippines. Currently Etihad Airways and Emirates Airline operate direct services between the two countries.

UAE now has air services agreements with over 150 countries, of which 114 are open skies or fully liberal arrangements.
