- PRESS RELEASE
The UAE Internal Audit Association (UAE-IAA), the local body affiliated to the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) in the United States, announced today, during a press conference held at the Intercontinental Dubai Festival City, the launch of its 2nd Annual Chief Audit Executive Conference, which will kick-off on the 18th and 19th of November 2012 in Abu Dhabi.
According to the organizers, the Conference will discuss many issues related to the internal audit profession, including the successful strategies of applying corporate governance and transparency, in addition to activating the role of internal audit departments to improve the financial and administrative performance of institutions and companies.
Commenting on the launch announcement of the Conference, Mr. Abdul Qader Obeid Ali, President, UAE Internal Audit Association, said during the press conference: "We are delighted to announce the organization of the 2nd Chief Audit Executive Conference, which will see expert heads of internal audit from major firms in the United Arab Emirates and abroad, gather under one roof."
He added, "Through the organization of this specialized event, UAE-IAA aims at emphasizing the importance of the role of internal audit departments in the public and private sectors in achieving higher productivity levels, which will contribute to the company's overall success. This can be achieved by ensuring a well-structured workflow in accordance with the policies adopted by companies and by informing the senior management about the outcome of the auditing process in order to improve performance and to point out the opportunities for improvement."
The upcoming Annual Chief Audit Executive Conference is organized this year, as the UAE-IAA moves forward with its long term strategy of extending effective guidance to all internal audit professionals in the UAE, and in creating platforms to bring together experts and specialists from around the world to discuss the ways and means of solidifying the role of the internal auditors in the public and private sectors.
The upcoming Conference will play a major role in increasing awareness around the internal audit profession and in exchanging best practices, in addition to consolidating corporate governance and transparency.
"The department of internal audit is a major player in detecting and identifying the challenges facing the implementation of internal policies and procedures," explained Mr. Abdul Qader Obeid Ali.
"The UAE-IAA evaluates the quality control within the internal audit departments, and provides its advice to the management. It differs from other consultancies in the independent advisory it provides and its role doesn't contradict with the evaluation procedures of the internal audit department in any company."
It is expected that speakers at the Conference will address many of the topics relevant to the internal audit sector, such as the challenges of applying transparency in light of the economic openness, and the relationship of institutions with external regulatory bodies, as well as the ways to strengthen the relationship with audit committees.
