UAE LTE revenues to grow 75.6% by 2017

Global consultancy firm Frost & Sullivan has said LTE revenues in the UAE and Saudi Arabia are set to reach $4.55bn and $3.38bn, respectively, in 2017, PTI has reported. Revenues in the UAE are expected to grow at a CAGR of 75.6% and for Saudi Arabia 45.3% over the period 2011-2017, the report said. "With increasing adoption of smartphones and high demand for data intensive applications, the mobile operators today are burdened with immediate need to upgrade their network infrastructure to be able to offer high-speed data services to the consumers," it said. The focus of telecoms value chain members in the UAE and Saudi Arabia needs to be on developing the overall ecosystem, which includes access devices and also dedicated applications, it added.
