UAE non-oil exports up 49% in 8 months

According to figures by the UAE Federal Customs Authority (FCA), the country's total foreign trade rose by Dhs70bn in the first eight months of 2012 to Dhs678bn from Dh608bn during the same period in the previous year, Wam has reported. Exports grew 49%, with the total export increasing to Dhs112.8bn, compared with Dhs75.5bn in the same period of the last year, while imports jumped 11%, driving the UAE non-oil imports up from Dhs388.4bn to Dhs431.7bn in the comparative period with an increase of Dhs43.3bn, the data showed.
