UAE was Oman's largest non-oil trading partner in 2012

According to data released by Oman's National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the sultanate's non-oil exports jumped 14.6% in the first eight months of 2012 to OR2.18bn from OR1.9bn in the same period of 2011, Muscat Daily has reported. The UAE remained the leading destination for Oman's non-oil exports and re-exports, while exports to India, Saudi Arabia, China and the US also went up sharply during the period. Non-oil exports to UAE rose 24% to OR363m from OR292m, while re-exports to UAE stood at OR636m. The UAE was also the single largest non-oil trading partner for the sultanate as imports from the UAE rose 11% to OR1.81bn in the eight-month period. Japan was the second largest source of imports with a growth of 40.9% to OR1.02bn.
