UAE tourism sector set for more growth in 2013

According to a study by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), tourism in the UAE is growing much faster than the world GDP growth average, contributing 14% to the country's economy in 2012, well above the global trend of 9%. The research found that one in nine of all jobs in the UAE are resulting from the industry, which beats the global average of one in eleven jobs. Last year, a total of 383,500 jobs were supported by travel and tourism in the country, and by the end of 2013, the number is expected to further climb 2.6% to 393,500 jobs, compared with a global expected increase of 1.7%, the report said.
