The United Kingdom (UK) has again made a strong commitment to MILIPOL 2012. Over 10 companies are attending; some exhibiting for the first time, others returning following a successful exhibition in 2010.

Some of these companies have already been successful in supplying equipments to countries all over the world including recent major sporting events. Senior representatives from the United Kingdom Trade and Investment's Security Directorate will on hand to advise on a range equipments and capabilities in the UK's security sector.

Richard Freeman Senior Police Adviser in UKTI's Security Directorate leads the UK delegation. This commitment to the exhibition by UK companies and UKTI's Security Directorate reflects the importance of the security sector as significant opportunities exist both in Europe, the US and Asia as countries wish to protect their borders and also compete for global sporting events.

In 2011 UK security exports achieved over £2.5 for the first time and the UK is the fifth most successful security exporter.

Richard Freeman said:"MILIPOL 2012 is an excellent opportunity for companies in the UK security sector to showcase their capabilities. It is also an important for companies to look at joint venture opportunities. This sector is very competitive and whist the UK makes world leading products it must continue to offer world class service at a competitive price. The UK must build on the success of the Olympic and Paralympics Games and companies who were successful in offering services for these outstanding events must look to offering their expertise overseas, especially to countries hosting major sporting events"

UK companies exhibiting include: Airwave Solutions Ltd, Digital Barriers, Heckler & Koch GB, Plowman Craven, L-3 ASA, CNL Software, XSMG. Companies being exhibited the UK 's Export Support Team include Inmarsat, Wood & Douglas, Survitec and VIT Security Group. The UK's security industry continues to be at the forefront of technological innovation and its international success demonstrates its ability to develop and supply highly capable equipment at competitive prices. The UK also has considerable expertise in offering innovative solutions to major sporting events around the world.

Both the UK's security industry and UKTI'S Defence and Security Organisation look forward to a successful exhibition at MILIPOL 2012.
