Umniah: the strategic telecom partner for the Global Thinkers Forum 2012

In parallel with the company's support of Jordanian and Arab women, Umniah recently sponsored the Global Thinkers Forum that was held under the Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah in Amman entitled: "Women in the MENA: Power & Creativity".

Umniah's strategic partnership with the forum, which was held during the 6th-8th of October, involved sponsorship supported by exclusive internet provision for attendees. Umniah also attended several workshops while representatives from the company were part of the effective platform supporting the role of women from the Arab region especially during this transformational period across different levels such as the social, economical and political fronts.

Discussion topics and panels focused on women in the Arab world and their adopted leadership roles; it also tackled the tools and mechanisms supporting such roles which is witnessing considerable transformations (political, technological and economical). The need to create the right haven and environment which embraces social equity has also been a major topic that was discussed throughout the days of the forum.

About this partnership, Umniah's CEO, Ihab Hinnawi stated: "This collaboration with the Global Thinkers Forum reflects our continued support that we hope will impact our community reaching all segments and genders. We strongly believe in gender equity and equal opportunities especially when it comes to leadership and entrepreneurial roles. Women can play an instrumental role equipped with the right tools offered by communication and technological advancements."

Hinnawi added that the Arab region is going through political and economical changes and the role of women has been obvious and pivotal. He emphasized the importance of such platforms that will contribute to the development of women and their presence.

Elizabeth Filippouli, Founder & CEO Global Thinkers Forum: "GTF is committed to the creation of ecosystems for excellence in Leadership. We join hands with those who excel and so we are delighted about our partnership with Umniah as we know how actively they support leadership and entrepreneurial initiatives. We have a lot of work ahead and great demand for future GTF events in MENA and beyond."

This year's Global Thinkers Forum offered the platform for women to express their leadership roles by showcasing success stories mirroring entrepreneurial women in different fields. It also gave the opportunity for media specialists to engage with these women and to feature real stories in the region.

The Global Thinkers Forum (GTF) is a non-profit initiative and a platform to create dialogues bringing current and future leaders together to discuss governance, society, progress and the future. GTF has been created to reposition perceptions about governance through a global perspective.
