UNIDO organises Bahrain International Garden Show 2013

Under the patronage of HM King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization through its Investment and Technology Promotion Office, Bahrain is co-organizing in cooperation with the National Initiative for Agricultural Development, Headed by HRH Princess Sabika Bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa, and President of the Supreme Council for Women the Bahrain International Garden Show.
The confirmed participation of HE Dr. Kandeh Yumkella, UNIDO Director General.
The active promotion of the Show throughout the UNIDO offices and the specialized network of Investment & Technology Promotion Offices in 8 countries Belgium, China (Beijing & Shanghai), France (Marseille & Paris), Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation and United Kingdom.
The UNIDO pavilion at the BIGS is 600 aqm and is under the theme Green Lifestyle.
Twelve Bahraini Agro-Preneurs who have been trained, on the means of growing and planting decorative plants, by the Ministry of Municipalities and Urban Planning and strong support of the National Agricultural Initiative will exhibit their produce.
Moreover, through the financial support of the Islamic Development bank showcase the products and services of 33 Agro-preneurs from the region namely (Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Tunisia, Jordan, Iraq, Sudan, Yemen, Egypt, Sierra Leone, Gambia and Uganda)
In addition to that 27 companies from Italy, Japan and china will also be hosted at the UNIDO pavilion.
Coordinate a series of technical workshops to present the latest techniques and technologies utilized locally, regionally and internationally for planting, growing and exporting of aromatic and herbal plants and products. UNIDO will also develop a three year programme for the Arab region for the promoting of aromatic and herbal plants.
With regards to Bahrain; UNIDO will train and develop local Agro-Preneurs and for that will utilize the Agro Incubator currently being developed in cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank.
