- PRESS RELEASE
The University of Dubai 'UD' is highlighting its new Master of Science 'MSc' degree in Information Systems Management at this year's International Education Show held at Expo Centre Sharjah from October 10-12. The exhibition is a leading higher education event showcasing a myriad of opportunities to students across the Emirates.
The winner will be announced on Friday, the last day of the exhibition.
His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, inaugurated the event with a ribbon cutting and graciously visited the University of Dubai's stand.
Head of Student Recruitment, Sanaa El-Laham, spoke briefly about the programmes the university offers and thanked His Highness for his continuous commitment to raising the standards of education in the UAE.
UD President Omar Hefni reiterated how the university's new graduate programme is concurrent with the Ministry's vision for excellence in higher education.
He said, "We are a not-for-profit university. We offer the best education at the most affordable cost - that is our mandate; that is part of our social responsibility that we proudly uphold to improve the UAE through the education of citizens and residents alike. This new programme is the next major step."
The programme, which held its first class earlier in the week, focuses specifically on the management of information systems and welcomes students from both business and IT backgrounds.
Dr. Hussein Fakhry, Dean of College of Information Technology, said, "UD professors spent months interviewing top IT Directors from around the region to find out what assets they look for in an IT team leader and based the curriculum of the MSc degree accordingly."
Aside from the new programme, the University of Dubai will showcase its world-class academic programmes and services including its curriculum, which follows the American system of education. In line with this objective, the Computing and Information Systems programme offered by the College of Information Technology is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission 'CAC' of ABET since October 2006.
The College of Business Administration has been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business 'AACSB' since April 2009. Only 5% of business schools worldwide hold this prestigious accreditation.
These two international accreditations position UD as one of the first university to be accredited for business and information technology programmes among private universities recognized by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
