- PRESS RELEASE
University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD), UAE's oldest private university which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, highlighted the unique option of obtaining a degree from its parent institution University of Wollongong Australia (UOW) while studying at the Dubai Knowledge Village campus.
Hawke explained, "On completion of a degree, students are given the option of either getting a certificate from University of Wollongong Australia (UOW) or from University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD). Usually, graduates with an international outlook opt for UOW degrees, while those with local roots, especially Emiratis, or those seeking public sector employment, select a UOWD degree."
In addition, Hawke said, "Students also have the option of transferring to the Wollongong Campus in Australia during the course with full credit, enabling them to be part of an even larger network of 21,000 students."
All UOWD degree programmes are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the UAE Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research which applies stringent guidelines while reviewing UAE universities and colleges.
In addition, the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency in Australia (TEQSA) includes UOWD in its audits of UOW. As a result, all UOWD programmes are recognised across the UAE, regionally and internationally, helping graduates to find quality jobs in the government as well as private sectors.
The CAA accreditation gives future students an assurance of quality in a range of areas from academic staff with strong academic credentials and industry links, to programme content and relevance.
"One of our strengths is flexibility. Our programmes are largely geared for working professionals, allowing them to attend classes on evenings and weekends," said Hawke.
The presentation also highlighted the university's other facilities, such as an onsite Career Development Centre, Students Services Department, a recently expanded library with online access to diverse resources, central location and affordable fees.
The session was also addressed by Dr. Laubie Li, Dean, Faculty of Business and Management. After the session, Deans and Professors from the faculties of Business & Management, Finance & Accounting, Computer Science & Engineering and Humanities, met attendees and offered advice on academic issues.
UOWD conducts regular Information Sessions in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, to familiarise aspirants with its programmes and facilities and allow one-on-one meetings with faculty members.
