Visa sees huge rise in spending by tourists in UAE

Visa account holders spent $4.7bn on their cards while visiting the UAE in 2012, a 171% increase compared to the previous year, the company has reported. Over the same period, the total number of transactions increased by 20%, indicating that the UAE remains a popular destination for international tourists, said Marcello Baricordi, general manager for Visa in the UAE.
