VIVA- platinum sponsor of second Arabian conference on information and communications security

VIVA, Kuwait's newest and most advanced mobile telecommunications service provider, announced that it participated in the Second Arabian Conference on Information and Communications Security 'ACICS2' as the platinum sponsor, demonstrating its supporting role to political leadership and national information and communication security.

The conference was held under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister of Kuwait who was represented by the Minister of Communications and the Chairman of the Central Agency for Information Technology, Mr. Salem Methyeb AL-Othaina at Al Raya Conference Center, Courtyard Marriott Hotel, from the 24th to the 26th of September.

Last year's inaugural conference was extremely popular amongst delegates of the GCC e-government organizations and specialized world-class vendors, which has led to the decision to make it an annual event.

Its success is an indicator of the regard delegates have for the importance of the safety issues the conference addresses, as well as demonstrating the high level of awareness regarding the integral role which information technology and security plays in Kuwait's developing economy.

Commenting on this sponsorship, Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Badran, Chief Executive Officer of VIVA and one of the key speakers at the conference said, "This sponsorship and VIVA's participation stems from our deep understanding of the rapid development of technology surrounding information and communication security, in addition to the vital role we, as a communications service provider, play in addressing related challenges. VIVA is extremely conscious of the threats and risks national security systems may encounter and is very well qualified to partner with the political leadership and ministries to guarantee a safer and more prosperous Kuwait."

This year's conference focuses on the increased security threats that the nation's computer systems and information assets encounter on a daily basis.

It also reviews the progress made in building the necessary legislative base and regulations related to information security, and discusses the impact of cloud computing and the new security challenges facing the e-government programmes.

The conference will also address human resources as the main success factor in minimizing or eliminating information security risks.

VIVA will continue to support and aid the development and progress of Kuwait's communications industry in relation to enhancing operating and security systems, and will play an active role wherever possible.
