  • PRESS RELEASE

Watani programme announced the launch of the UAE Societal Values Survey, the first of its kind in the region, which aims to monitor the features of core values that characterise the social fabric of the United Arab Emirates, and has contributed to the country's success and distinguished its society.

The effort is to promote awareness about the importance of prevailing values and their impact on intellectual, cultural and civilizational development.

'Rayak' Public Opinion Studies Centre, a national centre established by Watani Programme specialised in preparing surveys on public opinions, will conduct the survey covering 3,000 individuals from different segments of the community, including both UAE nationals and expatriates aged over 20 years old.

The survey will be conducted until December 2 in collaboration with Barrett Centre and the Dubai Consultancy and Media Centre (B'huth).

HE Ahmed Obaid Al Mansouri, Director General of Watani, said, "Understanding the community values provides an important step to defining our strength point as a cohesive community which eventually defines who we are as a Nation. The UAE Societal Values Survey is in line with the main objective of Watani Programme which is to enhance community integration and create harmony between the various segments of the UAE society. There are a lot of common values that both UAE nationals and expatriates share with each other, and these values have contributed much to create the UAE success story."

Yasir Al Muqbel, Director of 'Rayak' Centre, pointed out, "The survey results will be announced in December on the occasion of the UAE National Day."

"It will serve as a reliable reference material accessible to decision-makers and will be helpful in determining appropriate policies and strategies in community and economic development and sustainable development plans. The survey will also contribute to the creation of indicators of reference which will be useful in social development," he concluded.
