- PRESS RELEASE
The UAE women's business initiative Jeda Al Jiouin has announced the winner of their logo design competition, launched on 21st October. Hiba was presented with her award during a ceremony held at the headquarters of Invest AD in the presence of Nazem Fawwaz Al Kudsi, CEO of Invest AD and Her Excellency Fatima Obeid Al Jaber, Chairman of the Emirates Businesswomen Council and Chief Executive of the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council.
He also highlighted the increasing role Emirati women have played in the business sector over the past few years.
Women now have senior responsibilities in key financial institutions, enabling them to play a full part in decision making and producing innovative ideas that contribute to the UAE's sustainable development, especially in Abu Dhabi.
Describing the initiative, Fatima Al Jaber, said, "Jeda Al Jiouin is a joint collaboration between Abu Dhabi-based financial services company Invest AD, the Federation of the UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and Emirates Business Women Council which aims to create a platform for Emirati businesswomen to network, collaborate and exchange ideas in the area of finance and entrepreneurship. She added that Emirati women have become active participants in the development of the country and in its decision-making process, which has resulted from the government's efforts to invest in women's talents across the economic, social and cultural spectrum."
Commenting on the Jeda Al Jiouin logo, Fatima expressed her enthusiasm about the winning logo and said, "As the first activity of the Jeda Al Jiouin initiative, the logo competition was very successful. It attracted many passionate female designers, and looking ahead we are happy to support women's further involvement in and contribution to the economy through all the initiative's future activities."
Hiba Jaber Mohammed, Describing the inspiration behind her design, Hiba said, "The meaning of Jeda Al Jiouin was the most important element in mind when creating my design. Since the initiative is for women in the UAE, I specifically chose this particular style of Arabic calligraphy, as it is generally favoured by women and is also popular in clothing and jewellery designs."
The phrase 'Jeda Al Jiouin' symbolises movement towards excellence. 'Al jiouin' is the name used for the highest quality pearls found in the waters of the Arabian Gulf, known for their purity and perfection.
The new logo incorporates the name of the initiative, Jeda Al Jiouin, elegantly written in Arabic calligraphy within the frame of a circle to symbolise the spherical shape of a pearl.
Promoted through various conventional and social media channels, the Jeda Al Jiouin logo competition received more than 50 entries from diverse women across the UAE. The new logo will also be showcased on all print, online and broadcast materials as well as at workshops and events.
Commenting on the winning logo, Stephen Bowey, Executive Director, Corporate Development at Invest AD and a member of the jury, said, "We worked with a group of highly qualified jury members to ensure we picked a design that was both visually unique and well-developed. It was also important that the logo mirrored the goals of Jeda Al Jiouin and the drive for women to be successful in the business sector, which Hiba's design successfully did."
The jury also included Azza Al Qubaisi - Executive Board Member and Vice Chairperson at the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council, Amna Al Sharaa - Board Member at the Emirates Business Women Council and Barry Dunne, Director at creative communications and design company MerchantCantos.
