The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) has launched a campaign titled “Collecting Office Recyclable Materials” to produce artificial falcon nests.
The three-day campaign aims to collect recyclable photocopied boxes, photocopied A4 paper wraps and water bottles to produce art work for an artificial falcon nest. This campaign is inspired from one of the Science inquiry subjects called “Mongolia Artificial Nest for Falcons.”
Dr. Karima Al Mazroui, ADEC’s Curriculum Division Manager, said that this artistic exercise will encourage groups of students to create falcon artificial nests using the collected recyclable materials decorated with an Islamic design. “This comes in line with a Science extracurricular activity called “Mongolia Artificial Nest for Falcon.” The recycling project will be implemented in three schools across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi,” she added.
Mr. Ahmad Al-Hammadi, the campaigns’ project manager said that ADEC is eager to encourage students’ creativity and innovation skills, enhance their scientific skills and link art and music education to science.” He added that ADEC is keen to continuously develop curriculum in order to cope with our rapidly changing world and to shift from traditional teaching approaches to an inquiry-based instruction.
Ms. Susie Recsi, Art & Music specialist said that the Campaign will help develop student skills, enhance their concept of preserving environment, encourage recycling and develop Art Education, as well as link it to other subjects, so as to urge them to get more involved in arts and become innovative.
ADEC will be organizing training workshops targeting Art teachers and school students to train them on how to use recyclable materials to produce art work of artificial nests that reflect UAE culture and heritage.
The Campaign will help students get acquainted with global art works and inspire new ideas for innovative projects, enhance community involvement and present their art work in prominent exhibitions such as Manarat Al Saadiyat Gallery which will be hosting students’ works in order to encourage them to proceed in the field of art.
