In line with its innovation and digitisation strategy, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), the world’s fourth largest Islamic bank by assets, has launched its new and revamped website www.adib.ae, which offers enhanced features such as a range of tools & calculators to help customers make the right decisions, informative videos, smart advice and a smarter way to locate your nearest branch & ATM.
The website provides customers with a simple, easy to use interface, which will benefit existing customers and the new market segments in the UAE who are increasingly embracing digital technology.
New users for ADIB’s internet banking platform have increased by over a quarter so far in 2015, while ADIB’s mobile banking app has attracted a 54 percent increase in new users in the first nine months of the year. ADIB has also witnessed an increase of 71 percent in the number of transactions conducted on the mobile app during the year.
Commenting on this trend, Philip King, Head of Retail Banking of Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) said, “There is a definitive shift taking place in the way that consumers in the UAE are banking and we are investing heavily in the infrastructure to allow our customers to bank the way that they want to. While internet banking remains the platform of choice for service requests such as statements, applications for new products and information requests, mobile banking is becoming the platform of choice for transactions. However, our research shows that customers still value the human touch from branch transactions but want to complement it with the efficiency of digital transactions. At ADIB, we are always looking for ways to strike a careful balance in the type of services we offer to ensure we are delivering exceptional customer experience.”
According to a study in 2014 by Google, the UAE has the highest usage of smartphones in the world, which shows the growing demand of digital services in the country.
ADIB was the first bank in the UAE to provide mobile banking through Etisalat’s new Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) technology in 2010. ADIB’s mobile banking app – launched in 2014 – was named “most liked app” by customers in the RFI Independent study 2015. This year, ADIB also became the first bank to offer its shareholders who are customers of the bank, the opportunity to subscribe to its rights issue through a specially developed app.
