Fresh from kicking off its 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil countdown, Adidas has confirmed its partnership with the Dubai Sports Council for the 8th Dubai International Sports Conference. The announcement further underlines Adidas’ commitment to football not just internationally but across the Middle East as it continues to support the beautiful game at all levels. Held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, the two day conference aims to ’empower the game of football’ in Dubai and the region.
The Dubai International Sports Conference sees sport industry professionals, global stars – including Adidas ambassadors Pep Guardiola and Xavi Hernández – and partners coming together under one roof, sharing one common theme; a love for football. Continuing to bring the spirit of the World Cup from Brazil to the UAE, Adidas will be showcasing its World Cup credentials via a giant installation of brazuca, the Official Match Ball of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, and an exhibition of all Adidas match balls produced since the first ever World Cup in 1970.
Commenting on the partnership, Jad Chouman, Brand Director, Adidas Middle East and North Africa, said: “As the official partner of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, Adidas is proud to be present at the 8th Dubai International Sports Conference. With the recent launch of brazuca, the official match ball of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, the Samba footwear collection and the home jerseys of our sponsored federations such as Spain, Germany and Argentina, we wanted to bring the spirit of Brazil to the UAE. Our partnership with the Dubai Sports Council marks our commitment to the growth and development of football in the Middle East. We look forward to developing this more closely with the Dubai Sports Council in the coming months and years.”
Mohammed Al Kamali, Head of the Organising Committee, added: “We are proud to have Adidas on board at the 8th Dubai International Sports Conference. There are few brands with such a strong heritage in football and who have been a part of its development and growth over the last five decades. Adidas’ continuous innovation in the sporting goods industry, its commitment to sport in the UAE and the wider region as well as its partnership with FIFA make their presence at the Dubai International Sports Conference all the more important and relevant.”
The announcement comes just weeks after Adidas confirmed an extension of its long-term partnership agreement with FIFA and was granted the Official Partner, Supplier and Licensee rights for the FIFA World Cup and all FIFA events until 2030. Working closely with FIFA to support a wide variety of development programmes and key initiatives globally, as well as partnering with the Dubai International Sports Conference locally, Adidas is committed to promoting the use of football as a tool for social development.
