The UAE International Dental Conference & Arab Dental Exhibition, AEEDC Dubai, celebrates with the FDI World Dental Federation the World Oral Health Day ‘WOHD 2014’ through highlighting the benefits of a healthy mouth and promoting the awareness about preventive dentistry and oral health care in its every year conference program. World Oral Health Day is celebrated yearly on the 20th of March with the participation of several countries from various dental associations.
AEEDC Dubai, the largest dental conference & exhibition in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia and the second largest in the world, strives to engage throughout the year in events and occasions that cater most health issues. As dental care providers, the AEEDC Team believes that it is important to celebrate such an international unique day with the community. They believe that it is part of their role to emphasize the benefits of a healthy mouth and to help in promoting worldwide awareness of oral health.
The theme for WOHD 2014 is ‘Celebrating Healthy Smiles’, and that’s because a healthy smile reflects a healthy body which in fact is worth celebrating. Oral health is one of the important keys to a healthy body. Studies have showed that the health of one’s mouth, teeth, and gum reflects on their general health.
Dr. Nasser Al-Malik, chairman of the conference emphasized, “Statistics from FDI World Dental Federation had shown that 90% of the world’s population will suffer from oral diseases in their lifetime, 60%-90% of school children worldwide have dental caries, and toothache is the number one reason for absenteeism from schools in many countries.”
Many of these diseases can be avoided with increased governmental, health association and society support for increasing awareness and working on prevention, early detection and treatment programs for the sake of a healthier body and a healthy smile.
