Airport International Group (AIG) – the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) – concluded on 15 December, 2014, its annual Winter Campaign, which falls under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.
Held for the second consecutive year, the Campaign was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development.
As part of the Campaign, AIG distributed heaters, blankets and gasoline coupons to 200 underprivileged families living in Al Jizah, an impoverished area located in the vicinity of QAIA.
To support its on-ground activities, AIG also launched a Twitter campaign through the hashtag #TweetForHeatJo, which was used by Jordanian tweeps to raise public awareness and promote community solidarity.
“Each year, we strive to empower local communities through our CSR activities and programs. We hope that our Winter Campaign has helped cover some of the basic needs of disadvantaged families in Al Jizah during these harsh winter months,” commented AIG CEO, Kjeld Binger.
“As always, I would like to thank all the AIG employees who volunteered this year. I’d also like to give a special ‘thank you’ to Jordan’s tweeps for tweeting their support and helping us raise the campaign’s visibility. Awareness is the first step to positive action – we look forward to seeing greater community involvement in delivering aid where and when it matters most,” he added.
