Al Majaz Waterfront celebrates the Holy Month of Ramadan with feast of coloured lights

Al Majaz Waterfront has been adorned with coloured lights in celebration of the Holy Month of Ramadan, inviting people to visit Sharjah’s premier outdoor leisure destination at evenings for Iftar or Suhour in one of its many restaurants and cafes overlooking the Sharjah Fountain.

Al Majaz Waterfront and its surroundings have been decorated with fruit themed lights, while the restaurants and cafes have been beautifully adorned with Islamic ornaments inspired by Andalusian and Moroccan art and architecture, transforming the waterfront into a picturesque haven of tranquillity.

For the third consecutive year, Al Majaz Waterfront has also been selected as the venue to fire the traditional Iftar Cannon, in collaboration with Sharjah Police a daily activity that is broadcast live on Sharjah TV. The activity has become a highly popular heritage icon and an eagerly anticipated ritual throughout the Holy Month.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohammed Fadhil Al Mazroui, Al Majaz Waterfront Manager, said: “We are pleased to share with Sharjah’s residents and visitors their joy in this holy month of Ramadan. We wanted this year to celebrate the Holy Month through coloured lights which will allow visitors to feel the great spiritual value of this month and to spend special evenings while having their Iftar or Sohour at our dining facilities and enjoying the destination’s array of amenities that cater to all members of the family”.

Al Mazroui added that Al Majaz Waterfront attracts a huge turnout of visitors throughout the year thanks to its state-of-the-art facilities and amenities including the Sharjah Fountain and the art, entertaining and sporting activities being organised at the destination in collaboration with many partners.

The Dhs120m Al Majaz Waterfront, Shurooq’s debut project, was opened in March 2012, and is situated in Sharjah’s most vital and commercial district on the picturesque Khalid Lagoon. As one of the premier tourist and leisure destinations in Sharjah, it plays host to all major events in the Emirate.

Al Majaz Waterfront also houses many world-class restaurants and cafes, including: T.G.I Friday’s, Caribou Coffee, Fat Burger, Shakespeare and Co., Pizzaro, Baja Fresh, Zahr El Laymoun, Tim Hortons café, Cold Stone, and ElManza, a fine dining Moroccan restaurant, All of them overlook the breath-taking Sharjah Fountain. In addition, Al Majaz Waterfront offers a Splash Park, Mini Golf, and ALWAN children’s play area among many more amenities.
