Alwaleed Philanthropies receives ‘Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work’

Alwaleed Philanthropies was represented by HRH Princess Lamia Bint Majed Alsaud

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, was awarded with the ‘Humanitarian Volunteer Work’ award for the category of Well-Established Foundations.

The winners of the ‘Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work’ were honored in its 12th locally and 8th Arab and Islamic II in 2014.

H.E. Humaid Mohamed Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the “Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work”, gave a speech thanking His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, patron of the award, for his effort in establishing Community Social Responsibility and instilling its values in the society nationally and in the Arab, and Islamic world. This is a reflection of His Highness’s aspirations for solidarity and giving back to communities.

His Highness awarded individuals who have had great impact in the field of volunteer work. Furthermore, in the category of institutions, Alwaleed Philanthropies and the 57,375 Children’s Cancer Hospital from Egypt won the award on regionally. The “Sharjah Humanitarian Volunteer Work” Award is considered one of the leading awards in supporting humanitarian work in the UAE and the Arab world. Its importance stem from the need to support and promote volunteer and humanitarian work in the region.

The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi, Sheikha Hind Bint Suleiman Al-Khalifa and HE Juma Al Majid, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the College of Islamic and Arabic Studies in Dubai. Additional attendance included the Sharjah Police Chief HE Brigadier Saif Mohammed Al Zari and the President of Sharjah Government Office HE Salem AlQaseer, Director General of Sharjah Media Corporation Dr. Khalid Al Mudfaa, as well as a number of officials.

Alwaleed Philanthropies was represented by HRH Princess Lamia Bint Majed Alsaud, Executive Manager of Media and Communication and Ms. Nauf AlRawaf, Executive Manager of International Project Development.

Alwaleed Philanthropies are involved in a wide spectrum of humanitarian and philanthropic activities in more than 90 countries. Their focus areas include strategic initiatives, ranging from Disaster Relief and Community Development, to Women and Youth Empowerment, as well as Promoting Intercultural Understanding.
