BankDhofar, the leading financial organisation in the Sultanate, has extended its support and intensified its voluntary operations in Dhofar region following the adverse weather conditions caused by the tropical cyclone Chapala.
The bank joined hands with other parties- including the Ministry of Social Development and Oman Charitable Organisation – and formed a volunteer team to set relief plans and support schemes in areas affected by the cyclone that passed over the Arabian Sea.
Sami Omar Al Zadjali – Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications at BankDhofar – said, “We have collaborated with other institutions and individuals to set up a team that worked together and studied the latest developments and weather updates, and we developed a plan to support residents of Dhofar and other parts of the country that were expected to be affected by the cyclone. The team also functioned as communication centre to link all voluntary teams with the support operations, and it was stationed at BankDhofar’s headquarters in Salalah. Luckily there was no direct impact, but we are proud of the efforts exercised by all parties that showed readiness in such an adverse weather situation. I would like to thank them all for their support and tireless efforts to ensure the wellbeing and safety of the community.”
A number of public and private sector organisations, as well as volunteers from different parts of the Sultanate, prepared to reduce the impacts of the tropical cyclone, showing a great example of solidarity and collaboration between all segments of the society.
Al Zadjali added: “All BankDhofar social initiatives and community involvement activities come in line with our strategy to reinforce our role as an integral component of the social fabric. We, as a socially responsible Omani organisation, spare no efforts to participate in and promote initiatives that contribute to the wellbeing of society and strengthen ties between its members.”
