Beirut City Centre rules out plans to reconsider rental fees

A delegation comprising franchise operators at the City Centre in the Lebanese capital have met with caretaker economy minister, Nicolas Nahas, to look into ways to revive their slowing business activities, due to political and security turmoil, The Daily Star has reported. However, Suleiman Mallat, senior mall manager at Majid Al Futtaim (MAF), the operator of City Centre, said the mall was boosting its marketing plans to attract additional traffic to the property. "Some retailers might not be performing as expected because these have new products that need to boost brand awareness in the Lebanese market," he told the daily. The mall so far has no plans to reconsider rental fees, which were benchmarked at the market level, he said.
