Burger King posts 2.4% rise in Mideast sales

Burger King Worldwide Inc. has posted a better-than-expected third-quarter profit, after reducing costs by around 90% through franchising more outlets and sales grew outside North America, Reuters has reported. Quarterly net profit rose to $68.2m from $6.6m a year earlier. The third-largest US hamburger chain, behind McDonald’s Corp and Wendy’s Co, reported a 2.4% rise in sales in its Europe, Middle East and Africa business, helped by cheaper prices and online coupons in Germany and Spain.
