Carrefour fixes basic food items’ prices in Egypt until end-2014

Herve Majidier, the executive regional director of Carrefour has said the global chain has fixed prices on 30 basic food items until the end of 2014 to meet their “commitment to assist the Egyptian people,” Daily News Egypt has reported. The items include essential goods such as rice, oil, sugar and other commodities, he said. Carrefour in Egypt, which is owned by UAE’s Majid Al-Futtaim Group, received several requests from suppliers to raise prices, all of which were rejected, Majidier noted.
