Young members of “Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children” expressed their loyalty to the UAE and celebrated in their inimitable style at the premises of AJCCC. The National Day celebrations were hosted under the presence of Dr. Mona Al Bahar, a member of the Board of Trustees of AJCCC and Acting CEO, with participation from staff, members of the public and parents of participating children.
The Centre’s decoration for the National Day celebratory activities was inspired by Freij UAE. A heritage area was created to display traditional Emirati veils and art pieces. Many of the handicrafts were create by the children themselves using recycled material.
The garden area of AJCCC featured a poetry tent as well as traditional food counter, these were the most popular activities among the young participants. Girls enjoyed henna painting sessions conducted by an expert henna artist, children also enjoyed a design activity where National Day themed art pieces were created using the colours of the UAE national flag.
The music department presented song and dance performances inspired from traditional Emirati music.
The pottery department presented the largest piece of art prepared in AJCCC since its inception – the UAE national flag, coloured by more than a hundred children taking part in the National Day celebrations.
The celebrations of the National Day were concluded with the children pledging an oath of loyalty towards the UAE. Many young boys wore soldier’s uniform, saluting the brave members of the UAE armed forces, while girls sported clothes themed around the UAE national flag.
